A Reading & Discussion in Celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr.

A reading hosted by Baltimore artist and author Kondwani Fidel, whose collections Hummingbirds in the Trenches (2018) and Raw Wounds (2017) have been praised by literary and civil rights leaders. Fidel was the 2018 winner of the Civil Rights Literary Award, Fidel confronts education reform, civil rights, and growing up in an underserved community through his work. Following the talk, join us in the Walters Cafe for continued conversation and a book signing with the author.
Be the Light – Celebrating the Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

MLK Memorial Breakfast

The Kings Landing Women‘s Service Club is hosting its 45th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Breakfast. This event is Maryland’s oldest celebration of its kind on the east coast and was founded over four decades ago to celebrate the life and teachings of Dr. King.

This year, the featured keynote speaker is Pastor Justin T. Rhodes of Trinidad Baptist Church. The Breakfast will also feature musical guests – the award-winning Oxon Hill High School Concert Choir.
East Baltimore’s MLK Day of Service

This is the 9th Annual community service event in East Baltimore honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. It is hosted by the New Broadway East Community Association and organized by the 6th Branch. They will be conducting several light demolitions, overgrowth removal, and large scale trash clean-up projects on multiple sites in Broadway East.

20th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade

The parade to commemorate the life of civil rights leader and icon Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. has more than 70 groups participating, including high school and community bands, honor/color guards, equestrian units, fraternities & sororities, lively dance squads and civic organizations.
MLK Day Celebration at The Lewis 2020
- Where: Reginald F. Lewis Museum of Maryland African American History and Culture – 830 East Pratt Street, Baltimore

Friends School of Baltimore will be sending hundreds of parents, students, faculty, and alumni into the community in support of MLK Day of Service. Activities are both on-campus and at sites such as Believe in Tomorrow Children’s House, Baltimore Hunger Project, Art with a Heart, Helping Up Mission, Our Daily Bread, The Baltimore Station, Paul’s Place, Moveable Feast, Broadmead and the Maryland Book Bank. Letrice Gant of Baltimore Ceasefire will be our guest speaker at the Welcome Breakfast.

MLK Dare to Dream Day!

City of Annapolis Martin Luther King Jr. Parade
- Where: Begins at Amos Garrett Blvd. and continues down West Street and Main Street

The 6th annual parade features music, floats, bands, organizations and more. This year and permanently, the event has been moved to April due to ongoing weather concerns in January.
