Summers in the Baltimore area can be brutally hot and humid. There is no better outdoor fun than enjoying the cool waters of a splash fountain. Here’s a list of the ones we found[and all are free! If you know others, please let us know. We’ll add more as we discover them.
West Shore Park – 401 Light Street — home to the wonderful Walter Sondheim Fountain. Free!
North Harford Splash Pad — 6800 Hamlet Drive — a three-ring sprayer, plus a whale’s tail spout. Free!
South Germantown Recreational Park Splash Playground — 18056 Central Park Circle, Boyds — Fun facilities include a 280-jet water maze, a waterfall cave, water-spouting animals and a slide. $4 per person; children under two are free.
Chesapeake Beach Water Park — 4079 Gordon Stinnett Blvd, Chesapeake Beach — fountains, water slides, a lazy river and more watery fun. General admission is $21 ($19 under 48 inches tall), but check out the various discounts. Children two and under are free.
Ellen E. Linson Splash Park — 5211 Campus Drive, College Park — slides, sprays, an aqua climbing wall, floating alligators and toddler slides are just some of the features at this recently renovated park. PG County residents pay $6; non-residents, $8; children two and under are free.
