Washington, D.C.’s Washington Monument will be closed for repairs for months, but Baltimore’s tribute to the nation’s first President is in perfect working order and looking great after an 18-month, $6 million renovation by the Mount Vernon Place Conservancy. Closed in 2010, the monument reopened July 4, 2015, 200 years after the laying of its original cornerstone. Inside, visitors can enjoy the bust of the President, the centennial plaque and a gallery with touchscreen tours. It’s 227 marble steps to the top of the tower, but the view of Baltimore from 250 feet above sea level is well worth the climb! The facility is open Wednesday-Friday 11 a.m.-3 p.m., Saturday & Sunday 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
